What exactly do I receive?
A written report. It lists what each searched index showed, in order, with filing dates, reference numbers and the office that holds the original. Indexes that returned nothing are listed too, with the query we ran. Nothing in the report is paraphrased from memory.
Can you look up anyone?
No. We research records about you, about your own property, or about a person or entity you are authorised in writing to act for. A request to look into a stranger is declined, and we say so in the reply rather than quietly ignoring it.
Is this a background check?
No. A background check is a product assembled by a consumer reporting agency under its own rules. We read public indexes and report what they show on the day we look. We do not resell data broker files and we do not produce scores or risk ratings.
How long does a search take?
A single-county review is usually completed within a few working days once we have agreed the identity to search. Multi-county or multi-state work takes longer, and we say at the outset which offices are involved and why that adds time.
What if the record is wrong?
Then the report shows the entry as recorded and names the custodian that holds it. Our correction guidance explains the route that office uses and the documents it usually requires. Where only a court order can change an entry, we say that too.
Do you obtain certified copies?
Certified copies are issued by the custodian, not by us. We can tell you which office issues them, what it asks for, and what its published procedure is, and we can follow up on a request we made on your behalf.
Are you a law firm?
No. R-EqualsMe LLC is a research company. We do not give legal advice, we do not represent anyone before a court or agency, and nothing in a report should be read as advice about your legal position.
How is an engagement arranged?
We discuss scope and effort by email or telephone before any work begins, and we confirm the arrangement in writing. This website deliberately publishes no rate card, because the work is sized by the question, not by the page.
